Black Annis will be Molly Dancing at the following events in 2025

  • Thursday 9 January – From 8:30 pm Wassail at the Rose and Crown, Thurnby
  • Saturday 11 January – Whittlesea Straw Bear Festival
  • Saturday 25 January – Mark Jones Day of Dance organised by Ouse Washes, Ely, Cambridgeshire

Black Annis Day of Dance on Saturday 14 December

Black Annis hosted a fun day of dance on Saturday 14 December. They were joined by Bakanalia from Leicester, Bare Bones from Loughborough and Ouse Washes from Downham Market. The weather was excellent and the historic city looked splendid.

Summer 2024

Black Annis concluded their Cotswold Morris Season with a fabulous weekend in Guernsey. One of the real highlights of a great year which also included a splendid weekend of folk music and dance at the White House Lawn festival in Ashby Parva. The year in pictures is recorded below.

Saturday 28 – Sunday 29 September, Guernsey hosted by Belles and Broomsticks Morris

Saturday 7 September Lincoln Big Morris

A somewhat grey and chilly day in the beautiful City of Lincoln dancing with a large number of other sides and, culminating with a highlight mass stand outside the magnificent cathedral.

Saturday 20 July Newark Traditions Festival

Another lovely day at the Newark Traditions Festival. Dancing around the town and in the Castle grounds with sides from Derbyshire and Lincolnshire as well as Nottinghamshire.

White House Lawn Ashby Parva Sunday 7 July

Black Annis enjoyed a fabulous weekend in Ashby Parva courtesy of festival organisers John and Stephanie Goodacre. This culminated with some triumphant dancing on the Sunday where we had 12 dancers, 3 musicians, 2 banner carriers and a fool and a dog in the procession.

Busy week 20-26 June

Black Annis enjoyed a fabulous week dancing in and around Leicester with debut dancing from some of our new members.

Saturday 15 June Humberstone Junior Academy Spring Festival

A warm welcome from the School where Black Annis danced outside despite inclement weather early on.

Saturday 8 June St Neots Day of Dance

A fun day dancing in the market town of St Neots Cambridgeshire for their 41st Annual Folk Festival.

Saturday 4 – Monday 6 May Jack in the Green Hastings

A lovely annual event with dancing on the seafront and the old town. The highlight is the Monday release of the Jack in the Green where he processes through town accompanied by hundreds of dancers, drummers, singers, fabulous animals and giants.

Saturday 20 April New Esperance 50 Anniversary London

In fashionable Borough, An interested crowd watches the slaying of Richard III in the Battle of Bosworth Dance. Note the dead soldier in the background.
