Triumphant Final Thursday Summer Evening Dance Out at the Old Horse
Our final summer evening dance out on 13 August at The Old Horse, London Rd, Leicester was a triumph of enthusiasm over heat (30 degrees Centigrade). We managed a fullish programme of dancing in the large garden front of an enthusiastic and friendly crowd.
Fun Evening at The Cow and Plough
On Thursday 30 July Black Annis enjoyed a fun evening dancing at the Cow and Plough in Stoughton. There was a good crowd to enjoy the show and a goodly number participated enthusiastically in a triumphant rendition of “Saturday Night”.
Black Annis Perform at Barefoot Festival Sunday 26 July
Barefoot is a magical festival with an opportunity to try out different crafts, yoga and, dance styles, of which Morris is an example. We danced in the Big Top with Way of the Wierd who taught Border to some of the festival goers. Following this we danced together at the campfire.
Sunny Evening at the Cradock Arms Inn 23 July
It was a lovely evening for dancing not too hot – and the manager Dave at the Cradock was very welcoming, having cleared space in the garden for us. The Inn was very busy and we had a large and interested audience who were kind enough to express their appreciation.
Seaside Fun at the Potty Festival in Sheringham
Black Annis had a lovely weekend at the Potty festival, dancing in the procession and at a number of well chosen spots with good crowds. It was also fun to dance with the festival organisers at the old Station and at the Arena on the Sunday.
Summer Solstice Celebrations at Beacon Hill
On Sunday 21 June we celebrated the Summer Solstice with Charnwood Grove at Beacon Hill. We danced in the Upper Car park and processed up to the stones where we celebrated the Solstice together.
Great Day in Leicester at Riverside Festival
Black Annis enjoyed dancing at the lively and busy The Riverside Festival on Saturday 6 June. We were just one on many attractions at the festival (which included fairground rides, craft stalls, boat rides and canal boats, as well as plenty of live music) so were pleased to be able to attract a crowd.
Black Annis Enjoy Lovely Day Dancing at Moira Canal Festival
On Saturday, 16 May Black Annis enjoyed dancing at the local, family friendly Moira Canal Festival near Swadlincote . Sharing the dance displays were other local sides Anstey Royal Chalfont and Restless Soles.
A Triumphant Weekend at Jack in the Green
Black Annis made their annual trip to the wonderful Hastings Jack in the Green festival for the Mayday bank holiday weekend. We had triumphant performances all around the town dancing in front of large and enthusiastic crowds. We endured the long but spectacular procession and finished with a raucous performance of Nutting Girl on the festival stage.
Fabulous Day Dancing in Leicester, Old Town Festival
On Saturday 25 April we had a wonderful time dancing at the Leicester Old Town Festival dancing in Jubilee Square, the Jewry Wall Museum Piazza and twice in Leicester Cathedral where we shared a spot with Leicester Morris. The staff were helpful and friendly everywhere and there was so much to see and do with so many interesting displays and activities.
A Great Day Out in Oxford
On Saturday 11 April we had a lovely day dancing along with many other sides in the beautiful city of Oxford as part of the Oxford Folk Fest . The weather was variable but there was enough sun to enjoy the day and it was lovely to have Amy dancing with us in her first dance out with the side.
Dancing in the Phoenix Foyer
On 26 March we enjoyed a splendid evening at our local Phoenix arts centre dancing in the foyer and following it by watching a film “Mothers Pride” which features Morris Dancing.
